Off Camera – Scene 4.5

There’s no music, no production still. This is one of those vague moments between wipes when the bookkeeping happens. So help me determine where the wipe opens up. Are BB and Hiden going to sit at the console for a few hours, repairing and slicing? Are the party members going to try to do something about the stench aboard the Sybil’s Silence? What is Erska going to do about Arri? And what about the security dude? Not to mention Quida! Find out next time, on “Star Wars – Abandon All Hope”

  1. “BB, I think I have a plan to take care of the guard and get away from the stench. I need you to come with me to my ship, you in?”

    • “Affirmative. Then I will help Siet with fix the Silence

OOC: This is just a step away from trusting a stranger with Candy, but…with a droid. I do need to be repaired a bit, or just kept away from further blaster fire.

  2. Erska will be busy going through Arri’s room, looking for any information on what her “clone” has been doing, where it’s been, etc

    • It would seem that the starboard escape pod has been converted to quarters. This must be Arri’s room, since it doesn’t smell like fish at all, and the “My Little Rodi” bed set practically gives it away.

Despite the sheets, the contents of the clothes trunk are utilitarian and militaristic. There are full Imperial, rebel, and New Republic officer uniforms, tailored to fit Arri, as well as fatigues for a variety of planets.

On the desk, there’s a cheap datapad, with what appears to be a not-so-cheap encryption package. The login background is of an idyllic forest scene with a ringed gas giant in the sky. Also, there’s a disassembled blaster rifle, with a couple key components missing.

      • OOC: What unit would the Imperial Army uniform be from (if I can tell)? Might give us a clue as to where Arri “came from” or “went to”, as she’d want to blend in with the local unit.

I don’t have any knowledge skills, really, so maybe just a general Int check.

        • Nah, that’s totally a background thing. Like, I don’t see Shalo knowing much about Kashyyyk’s Life Day celebration, but he’d recognize the pips and insignias.

The Imperial uniform indicates a naval lieutenant in the Outer Rim Fleet. The rebel uniform belongs to a SpecForce Pathfinder, and you’re fairly certain the New Republic uniform is for an army corporal.

  3. “Okay, come along BB and ‘limp’ the best you can,” Hiden says complete with air quotes. He confidently strolls down the ramp whistling (or as close as you can get without lips) a happy tune. When he sees the security officer he tips his baseball cap (yes, he changed hat between scenes) and says, “Good evening, officer.” He continues to walk with BB behind him unless the officer says something.

OCC: Persuasion +? (I don’t have my personal computer with me) to appear like nothing bad has happened and there is nothing to explain.

OCC: What is the target number and skill to do some minor reprogramming on a droid without them noticing? I really think that the snooty English accent BB is sporting should go, but Valley Girl sounds really good at this point in time.

    • The security guy pulls a small clipboard off his belt, and looks to be about to ask Hiden some questions. But… he glances at the destroyed cargo crates, then at Hiden’s nonchalance, then at the Sybil’s Silence. He shrugs his shoulders. “Er… Evenin’.” He stands there scratching his head as Shalo and BB continue to the Centennial Sparrow.

Deception (made more sense than Persuasion; same mod) – (24)

BTW, the sheets I’m using for reference are on the wiki. Not having your own computer shouldn’t be much of a hinderer. (see what I did there?)

Reprogramming a droid isn’t a huge deal. Use Computer vs their Will defense. It can even define itself as “friendly” and aiding another, and the task becomes almost trivial.

Doing it without them noticing and against their will? BB’s Will defense would have some heavy bonuses against Hiden’s Deception first, and Use Computer second.

  4. Hiden strolls along to the Centennial Sparrow slightly disappointed that his brilliant story of a short circuit in star destroyers computer caused the lights to go out and a little droid to go spinning wildly causing major damage was left unspoken.

He also thinks better of reprogramming BB’s voice box and just insists that putting a sombrero on BB’s head helps him concentrate.

    OCC: Mechanics +9

  5. Shalo and Erska spend some quality time rifling through a dead girl’s things.

Hiden and BB spend some quality time making repairs and talking headwear.

Siet spends some quality time figuring out exactly what’s changed on his ship, and starts making it right.

Hiden’s Mechanics – (21) – and that’s only because I rolled BB’s untrained Mechanics to “Aid Another”. BB is healed a further 2 HP, to a total of 12 HP. It is now about two hours after the fight.

At about this time, an ugnaught leading a mule droid taps the comm panel at the Sparrow’s shut freight platform.

  6. OOC: What parts are missing from the blaster? Does that require a check or would it be basic background knowledge?

After fiddling with it for a bit, Erska puts the datapad into her backpack, along with the blaster parts. She holds up the various uniforms, giving them a questioning look over before glancing over at Shalo. “Should we take these? I mean, they should fit me pretty well…” Before she can say anything more, the comm system buzzes, announcing a visitor. “Siet, were you expecting someone?”

OOC: Wasn’t sure if we should answer, since it is technically his ship now…again…and we kind of need to catch back up to Hiden, unless you want a split party

    • Erska has proficiency with pistols and rifles, quick draw, point-blank shot, and precise shot. I, James, doesn’t really know what goes into making a blaster rifle, but Erska does. This rifle isn’t going back together without new parts, or sacrificing another rifle for it, and she knows she won’t be able to accomplish that without a trained mechanic.

In order to avoid retconning the security officer’s exit and Hiden’s short conversation, I’m gonna say Siet urged the party not to answer at the time. If you’re referring to the ugnaught at the Sparrow, Erska and Shalo probably have little they can do about it.

        • Ah. Yes. Well, two ships and all, ya know. The security officer buzzed at the Sybil’s Silence, and strolled off, eventually having a short conversation with Hiden on his way to his own ship.

The ugnaught is buzzing at the Centennial Sparrow, with a MULE droid ostensibly carrying the sought-after catalyzer. At this moment, BB and Hiden are aboard the Sparrow, Erska and Shalo are aboard the Silence, and Siet has gone game-dead.

          • Oooh, gotcha. So, retcon out Erska’s last line then…

I dunno what Shalo has planned, if anything, but the only thing remaining for Erska now is gathering as much of Arri’s uniforms (since they could come in handy) and equipment, especially the datapad, and heading out after the others.

  7. Okay, folks! Let’s get this show on the road (or the spacelanes?).

Unless one of you objects, the current situation is thus:

    • Erska: on the Sparrow, with Arri’s stuff.
    • Shalo: following Erska, providing inscrutable aphorisms.
    • BB: on the Sparrow, downloading encrypted information from the Silence, to be decrypted at his leisure.
    • Hiden: on the Sparrow, admiring his handiwork both installing the catalyzer, and repairing BB.
    • Siet: on the Silence, trying to clean up the mess the sea-dwellers left.
    • the ugnaught: dropped off his delivery, and subtly reminded Hiden of his obligations. (“Don’t get caught in the spider’s web, Mister Gosek.”)

At this point, all active PCs are aboard a hyperspace-worthy freighter. I will frame the next scene based on what you decide. You could just jet (screw Ravokk), talk to Quida, try to find another way to pay off Ravokk, finish the repairs on BB (which might take deep into the “night”), or… whatever you want.

  8. When Hiden has finished repairing the ship, he calls everyone and says “I’m going out to get us some work. Anyone want to come with?” Then Hiden turns to BB and says, “Remember that this sombrero is an important part in the healing process, you have to keep it on while I’m out.”

  9. Putting aside Arri’s stuff for now, Erska rechecks her normal eqiupment before joining Hiden as he calls out to the rest of them. “Might as well. Gotta earn my share to afford you, right?” She shifts her backpack around slightly on her shoulders as she looks over at Shalo. “Since I’m going, he’ll most likely tag along as well.”

  10. BB removes the hat the moment Hiden places atop him. “Mr. Gosek, I believe you are full of space-junk”. Ignoring the humanoids for now, BB turns his focus on decrypting the Information gained from the Silence.

OOC: Why do I feel like Cleveland-bot? And sorry for the late post, haven’t had mucht time to sit and think. So what do you meatbags want to do on this hunk of junk?

    • So Hiden’s heading out, with Erska and Shalo in tow (haven’t heard from Bryan yet, but assuming that’s the case).

I imagine BB can continue to compute while on the move, as long as the group doesn’t go too fast. Unless you object, I’ll write up the next scene on Black Level, with everyone except Siet, who refuses to leave his ship and captive.
