Scene 3 – Conflict!

As we watch the Centennial Sparrow ease herself into a holding pattern outside Docking Bay 4, we experience the use of “manual-zoom-shaky-cam” and can just make out Siet and BB talking on the hangar deck. Cut to just behind the two talking about correcting the datapad on board. Just barely in-frame, we see Erska smoothly situate herself behind one of Sybil’s Silence’s landing struts, and then Shalo leaning against the slot partition, lightsaber drawn but not ignited.

Docking Bay 4

Just as it seems it couldn’t get quieter, the cargo lights on the Silence suddenly spring to life, and steam issues from multiple vents as the starboard loading platform lowers to the deck floor. Standing on it are three mon calimari – the one with blue skin is wearing expensive looking flak armor, but has no weapon drawn, and the other two have orange skin, flight suits, and sleek blaster rifles drawn. As the platform comes to a rest, the distinctive sound of the rifles powering up can be heard over the tense soundtrack.

The blue mon cal spreads his arms wide, steps off the platform, and after a barely noticeable glance at Shalo’s position, addresses Siet in a loud, slightly gurgly, voice. “Well, well. If it isn’t my old pal, Siet. Nice of you to drop by. I’m sorry if I’m a bit lacking in hospitality. On second thought… I do have a room ready for you, if you’d step this way. Boys?” He gestures with both fins towards Siet and BB. “Do persuade Mister Marr and his droid to come aboard.”

Erska can take a surprise round if she so chooses. Nobody has noticed her. Otherwise, the moment it becomes obvious fighting will break out, Nolest has high init and will act first.

Sorry about the delay, guys. Life is awesome – but full – right now, and I want every scene to be first class.

Siet | BB | Erska | Nolest | Tessek | Arri | Notha | Norssa | Hiden | Shalo

98 thoughts on “Scene 3 – Conflict!

  1. Erska barely stops herself from letting out an ‘Eep!’ when the lights come on, keeping herself pressed back against the strut. It takes only a moment though to realize she wasn’t the one spotted. ‘Tight quarters, lots of cover, no time to assemble the rifle, so I’ll go with…’ Being careful to not draw attention to herself, she slowly pulls out her blaster pistol, readying it for use and staying in position until needed.

OOC: Since surprise round only allows a single action, Erska will use it to draw out her blaster pistol while remaining stealthy for the moment.

  2. While keeping his personal com link on to his friends, Hiden tries to hail Ravokk’s droid on the ship’s com. “Um, this is Hiden. There was a bit of a culinary accident in the docking bay. Don’t ask. I’ve been moved to docking bay 4, slot 4. If you could have the catalyzer sent there. Sorry about the inconvenience. It’s just been one of those days.”

Hiden tries to fly like the ships having mechanical difficulties. He needs not landing to look legitimate and a good excuse to get in the way.

OCC: Pilot +9 (reroll if total < 15), deception +8 (both to fly causal, but in poor repair).

    • X3’s monotone crackles through the Sparrow’s comm system. “Acknowledged.” A short pause… “I have confirmed the transfer of the Centennial Sparrow.” And another pause… “I have changed the delivery in our records. X3-P8 out.”

That errand done, Hiden slides his blue palms across the cheap control system – a shake here, a tilt there. Three stabilizer vents seem to suddenly stop working, but Hiden has everything under control. Yeah. That should do it.

This is kind of out of the regular narrative anyway, so I won’t feel weird about a reply.

      Pilot – (28)
Deception – rolled secretly and noted.

  3. Shalo does nothing overt yet, waiting to see who shoots what first. Despite mild concern for Erska, she’s actually got a fair bit of cover available, so the first step should most likely be positioning. Meanwhile, let’s talk all be reasonable: “Gentlemen, there’s no reason to be hasty. This is simply a business arrangement. As the great prophet Zuck once said: ‘If you are not the customer, you are the product!'”

    OOC:
No crunchy bits here, just throwing out a dumbass “koan” because it’s what I do (and taking a shot at Facebook, to boot). No attempt to actually persuade.

My round when it comes up:

    Move action to square J-16.

If hostiles shoot at me: fire up the lightsaber (swift action, I think) and Deflect (reaction). Assuming I survive, trade standard for another move action to get into melee / AOO range. Use Force points, since the negatives stack up fast with deflection.

If hostiles shoot at anyone else: Ignite saber (swift), Draw Fire (trading standard for another swift), Deflect as I can (reaction). Use Force points, since the negatives stack up fast with deflection.

  4. Siet nearly pulls out his blaster and shoots the traitorous Mon Calimari on the spot, but manages to restrain himself for a moment. “Come on now, Tortola, there’s no need for violence. Why don’t you just give me back my ship, we’ll unload whatever cargo you have, and we’ll go our separate ways?” As he speaks, Siet’s voice drips with honey. He may not be a Jedi, but he’s picked up a few tricks along the way…

    [tech]
Mind Trick: +8 vs. Target’s Will (using a force point)

  5. Nolest Tortola blinks for a moment. “No need for violence.” he murmurs. “Give you back your ship.” he continues.

The two oranges glance at each other and at Nolest. The one to Nolest’s left smacks the armored mon cal in the back of the head. Hard. “What in the deepest sea do you think you’re doing, Notha!?”

“Boss! Only whatcha told us!” He glances at the other. “Yeah. Plan C, remember?”

Nolest looks back at Siet and returns to murmuring. “But it is Marr’s ship. He should have it back.” He starts walking towards Siet and BB.

One of the oranges taps a lapel comlink. “Wow. I guess we’re going to Plan D already. Tessek, Arri, you read?” The starboard cannon of the Sybil’s Silence whirls to focus on Siet’s direction. The mon cal grins. “I guess so.”

    Siet’s Use the Force check was a natural 20 – (28)

With the Force Point, that brings Nolest from unfriendly to friendly for this scene. He will act in your initiative batch with your party’s interests in mind (read, team consensus), but will not harm his actual allies, or put himself at direct risk.

Next goes Siet, BB, and Erska in any order. Notha has initiated combat.

The cannon is in J-14, about 10 feet up.

  6. OOC: The entrance to the ship…is it an elevator or a ramp? Are there any other entrances onto the Silence?

    • Good question! The three mon cals were lowered on the starboard cargo platform. There is also a port cargo platform, port and starboard aft docking rings, and a boarding ramp behind the cockpit.

Currently, the only open entry is the starboard cargo platform.

    • I had pictured them on the side and very nearly dorsal, but I really like that idea. Done. Better for strafing runs anyway, right?

So yeah, with good action description and good rolls, you could definitely do something with it.

      • OOC: In general, how do you damage ship-based weapons as a person (not ship to ship)? Could I do it in with a ion blaster, or more likely a lightsaber? Can I deflect the shots or are they just too big?

        • Well, it’s essentially just a threat that’s part of this encounter. Yes, an ion blaster can disable it, and yes a lightsaber can definitely remove it from the situation. Note that it might take Siet longer to repair a lightsaber cut than ion damage.

Also, the Ghtroc 720 is one size category below the “Colossal (frigate)” size that Deflect doesn’t work against. So. Shots from the Silence can be deflected.

  7. With the others distracted, Erska darts from one strut to another, doing her best to stay hidden. She gets herself ready to jump onto the cargo platform or up into the ship, hopefully to keep those on board from firing the gun.

    Tech:
Move with Stealth +10 to H8
Gonna wait for others (aka Siet and BB) to act before finishing off my turn, unless Erska acting first helps them do something

  8. Ah, whoops, sorry about that. I’m being obtuse again. I placed the initiative under the map.

Basically, Nolest was the odd guy out for your opponents. Putting him on “your side” gives us a nice even PbP spread. Siet, BB, and Erska all act before your opponents. Then the mon cals and the other two mentioned but as-yet-unseen characters act as a group.

And after that point, allies and opponents are conveniently clumped.

  9. [Erska]
They’re definitely distracted – Siet and BB are holding all of the mon cals’ attention as Erska slides silently through the shadows under the ship from strut to strut. It looks like the controls to both cargo lifts are on the two central struts.

    Stealth (25) vs Perception (secret)

  10. Seeing Erska skulking towards the ship, and being far larger and far more oafish, Shalo decides distraction is the better part of valor, and nothing says valor like being a target.

OOC: Basically, keeping my previous action as stated, with more preference given to draw fire to keep the heat (and big ass gun) on me.

Also: guys, my blaster is in fact Ion. Want me to just fry the thing? Or is it more fun to leave it running so Erska can use it?

  11. OOC: As the droid in the group, and programmed to be non-violent, I’m going to let you guys go first, and then maybe just play defense near siet or try and board the vessel. I could probably try and hack the she computer to take it over and see what happens. Just try not to blast me on accident 😉

  12. Seeing his allies hesitate and move into position, Siet seizes the initiative, and shoots the prawny bastards.

    [tech]
Move: to P16 (this should give me partial cover)
Swift Action: Battle Strike. UTF check +8 vs. DC 15. Success gives a +1 to hit & +1d6 damage (damage increases by an additional d6 for every 5 pts I surpass the DC)
Attack: Mon Cal in L11 +4 to hit, 3d10 energy damage

  13. All right, Erska’s in H-8, and Siet’s armed in O-17 (probably leaning against the piled crates and not bothering to look since he doesn’t have to). Deuce and A1, do BB and Erska have actions before I run the “other guys”? Remember, feel free to chat it up in the OOC tab – cohesive party tactics make for great cinema!

  14. Following Siet’s lead, BB zooms foward, keeping close to cover before he gets his motherboard fried…that definitely wasn’t in his plans today…

OOC: Double move to P9…to hide behind the boxes between me and the cals. Is it possible to try and access the ships systems via wifi? Hopefully they ignore the droid long enough for me to do something here…

  15. Revised action: Move to L16, link up to Cargo lift terminal. Use computer +7…access controls for Docking Bay 4…lets see what comes up on the list.

  16. Map clarification time!
The larger octagons (F-14, O-13, etc) are landing struts for the Silence. The pile of smaller octagons (N/O-15/16) provide cover, as do the crates at B/C-15/16, P/Q-18/19, and M/N-21/22. There’s no telling what’s in the crates. The wall in row 19 provides full cover.

There’s a power converter in K-16 that can provide cover, and it’s also quite movable. The worker droids in B/D-21 and E/G-17 are currently inactive (but are movable layers in my map). The platform in I/L-18/20 is a cargo lift, which probably goes down to maintenance, or up into the Errant Venture, and is controlled from the panel in L-19.

The red edge of the hangar platform really does go off into space. Should a character pass through the force field, they will be subject to vacuum. What, no railing? This… is… STAR WARS!!

  17. [BB]
BB looks almost like he’s going to follow Siet, before veering towards the cargo lift. Scomping in, a plethora of hangar bay options open up!

    • Lift Up/Down
    • Maglev clamps On/Off for each slot
    • Force Field On/Off (with major safety guards)
    • Pass action to worker droid
    • Manage lighting

    Use Computer (21)
These are all Swift actions. Which means BB can use one of them before the end of his turn. And, I assume you meant K-19?

  18. OOC: Well, Lets make these mon Cals a fish out of water! Drop the lights to 0! Lets see them shoot in the dark!

    And yes, K-19.

  19. *Boom boom boom*
The ballasts in the hangar lights quite audibly and quite suddenly shut off as BB communicates with the Errant Venture. The glow from the Silence’s cargo lights, the worker droids, and the control panel are all that illuminate the hangar deck now.

Wow. This should be interesting. Almost everywhere has concealment or total concealment now. Map updated. Situation is mysteriously gravitating toward this scene’s production still. Per email, Steven will post the rest of Erska’s turn once he’s got time with internet access to assess the situation.

  20. “Boss! That droid’s shut off the lights!” The hapless mon cal waves his rifle around a bit, then jogs into the darkness and fires wildly at the lit up BB.

“Notha. Captain Obvious.” The other mon cal sighs. “I got Marr!” He steps right up to the crates Siet is hiding behind and takes his time to line up a shot.

Just as the two mon cals step off the platform, Erska taps the control on the landing strut and rolls over onto the platform, glancing up into the cargo bay with her blaster drawn. It’s lit up, but nobody seems to be there – a disgusted look on Erska’s face reveals that perhaps the musk fish spill was in Bay 4, not 18. The platform begins to rise, muffled by the sounds of Notha’s blaster fire.

As the cargo platform rises, the loading ramp opens by about half a meter, and a diminutive storm trooper nimbly slides out and does a perfect 3-point landing. He (?) rushes to beside Nolest, two blasters out, and fires a snapshot at BB before pointing the other at Siet. BB suddenly has smoke and sparks pouring out of him as one of his power packs is hit dead-on! A heavily obscured voice issues from the stormtrooper’s helmet. “Boss. This is my home now. You’re not going to just give it up to this nerf herder!”

“You bet your bantha he ain’t.” The nigh, nasally statement is issued from the loudspeaker of the Silence as the cannon reorients on Siet’s new position and fires! The shot’s a little wide, and ends up scattering the crates between Siet and Norssa.

A lot has happened on these guys’ turns – Hiden and Shalo will have to confirm their previously stated actions before I execute them.

    • Notha moves to H-16; attack vs BB – (12) vs Reflex 14 – miss
    • Norssa moves to O-14; two swifts to aim at Siet
    • Erska (per email) – Perception (11); swift activate lift; standard -> move to lift (J-11); Stealth (26)
    • Arri – surprise round to prepare fall; free to fall; swift draw blaster; move O-6 to M-14; attack vs BB – Critical Hit! – 22 damage! BB is -1 step down the CT, and has 1 HP.
    • Tessek fires ship weapons: attack vs Siet – (15) vs reflex 20 – miss. The crates still provide cover, but now all adjacent squares are difficult terrain.

Map update in a little bit. Sounds like the interior of the Silence will be mapped out soon. Jon, any important deviations from the stock 720?

    • OOC: No major modifications, the biggest thing is that instead of standard display panels, most of the interface with the ship is handled via voice commands. This leads to fairly obnoxious warnings and klaxon when thing start falling apart, but make it easier to issue quick commands to the ship.

Also, the seats in the port side escape pod have been replaced with a water bed, and the interior lighting has been put on a dimmer.

      • Hehe… “water bed” he says – wait ’till you see what they’ve done with the place. There might be a reason why the one non-marine creature is wearing a rebreather mask.

          • Seit is under the impression that the sheets are leopard print, but they’re actually from the holonet show “My Little Rodi” about a group of young Rodians that learn about friendship and the force and getting along. The guy that sold him the sheets had a twisted sense of humor.

But they do have a fantastic thread count. Very comfy.

  21. Seeing a large amount of blaster fire followed by sparks, Shalo decides that it’s sometimes best to hit first and ask questions later.

OOC: My round is substantially the same, but I think I want to get the Stormtrooper occupied.

Move action to L-16, swift action to Draw Dire, swift action to ignite lightsaber. Deflect blaster shots coming my way, including use of one force point on the subsequent Deflections (if needed) to help mitigate the negatives.

  22. “Guys, it appears there’s a lighting malfunction on the flight deck. I think there might need to be some light on the subjects,” Hiden said over the comlink to his friends. Hiden turns the brights on focusing on the Calamari.

OOC: Fly the ship up above the other ship’s gun (pilot +9 reroll if total less than 15). If I can see the clump of Mon Calamari (perception +7), I focus the ship’s lights on them hopefully giving a good target for my team and blinding them.

  23. Shalo whirls out from behind the partition, makes a meaningful look at all the Silence crewmembers, then lights himself up brilliantly with the glow of his saber.

“That loudmouth in the corner’s a Jedi!” Notha really is Captain Obvious. “Arri, I’m keeping my eye on Siet. Get that Jedi!”

Just as the stormtrooper’s blasters train on Shalo, a piercing beam of light shoots into the hangar from space, lighting up the mon cals, but leaving our heroes bathed in darkness. Nolest raises his arm against the blinding light. “Blast. Well, we know it ain’t the Republic police. Siet, I’m still willing to deal, but your friends are going to have to step down.”

Ok folks, what does Nolest do? For him, right now, everyone’s an ally. Choose an action, and I’ll add fluff. Otherwise, it’s action city for everyone else!

    • Shalo’s Persuasion – (20) vs Will hits Nolest, Arri, Notha and Norssa – note that you have cover against Notha and Norssa.
    • Hiden’s Pilot – (21)
    • Hiden’s Perception – (27)

Interior of the Silence nearing completion. At the latest, it will be up Monday morning. A1, Erska’s actions will take place on the Silence.

        • L/M-11/12 is the ship’s main reactor. You would have to go around it. And yes, L/M-6/7 is the personnel ramp. If Erska runs through the ship, she’ll see it close as she comes around the corner.

Also, (shoulda mentioned this, but wanted to drop the image before heading to work) the weapons panel in U-11 appears to be online, but being controlled remotely.

    • Alas, Nolest knows that under Plan D, his voice commands won’t do anything.

As far as I can tell, he’s leaning towards helping out BB.

  24. OOC: Well, if Nolest can’t do anything about it…

Erska lets out the breath she was holding as the platform finishes rising into the ship, then regrets it as the stench invades her senses. Doing her best to block it out, she looks around quickly, spotting the console. However, since the being controlling the gun is at a different panel, her chance of overriding control is slim. Instead, she cautiously makes her way up the stairs and around the corner, pistol at the ready.

She spots the ramp just behind the cockpit close and the lone figure at the console. She slips around the reactor and edges up along the wall, making sure she hasn’t been spotted as she approaches the mon cal. Finally, she steps up behind it, pressing the gun against its head to let it know of her presence. “Shut it off and step away from there.”

    Tech:
    Move to K12
If no threat sensed, move to M4
If I can threaten with a swift, then do so, using a force point to help out. Otherwise, the threat happens as soon as she can take the appropriate action, hiding just behind the entrance until then.

  25. [Erska]
The voice you’ve only heard referred to as Tessek turns out to belong to a quarren – must be quite the story if he’s working with mon calimari. As skinny as he must be, the robes he’s wearing almost completely hide his form, and the briny mucus makes his yellow face almost shiny.

Erska climbs the entry ladder into the cockpit, her weapon ready, and fires off the threat. The quarren turns his head from the console, takes her in at a glance, then dismissively goes back to the controls.

His nasally voice echoes in the Ghtroc’s cockpit. “What are you playing around at? I thought you were –” He stops suddenly as he’s staring at the console’s viewport, and his face tentacles and cheek crests spasm wildly. “Leviathan’s tail! What’s going on!?” he cries as he reaches for his sidearm.

Athletics (3) – no way of getting up the ladder without being noticed.
Persuasion (7) – even with a hefty bonus for armed vs unarmed, intimidation evidently not Erska’s strong suit?

  26. There is a screech of binary loud enough for the nearest planet to hear once BB is hit, then the droid peels out and disappears into the darkness.

OOC: 1 hp. I am gone! Move to M23, should put me in complete darkness and away from Cannons. This ship better be worth it Siet.

  27. Seeing his allies hesitate and move into position, Siet seizes the initiative, and shoots the prawny bastards.

    [tech]
    Move: to N17
Swift Action: Battle Strike. UTF check +8 vs. DC 15. Success gives a +1 to hit & +1d6 damage (damage increases by an additional d6 for every 5 pts I surpass the DC)
Attack: Mon Cal in L14 +4 to hit, 3d10 energy damage

  28. [Siet]
Something’s not right. Not sure what it is, Siet attempts to center himself in the Force before firing. After trying to clear the feeling, he fires without turning his head.

Notha gasps, and looks down at the hole in his gut, then stumbles back a step. “Was this part of the plan?” He sputters and his eyes roll up as he falls onto a worker droid.

    Use the Force – (11) – ick.
Attack roll – (16) vs Reflex – HIT!
Damage roll – (18) energy damage – Notha is dropped.

Per a tweet, Siet’s target was switched to “whoever is out alone”.

  29. Nolest watches the droid skedaddle, then his eyes bug out on their short stalks as Notha gets shot. “No need for violence…” he murmurs as he rushes to his crewman’s side. After placing his flipper behind Notha’s unmoving cranium, he looks up and squints into the Centennial Sparrow’s bright breams. “Marr, whatever deal I was thinking… it’s off. Get ’em!”

After a quick glance at Notha and Nolest, the stormtrooper fires some rapid, point-blank shots at Shalo, who handily deflects each bolt with the buzzing blade. Rapidly circling around the Jedi, the stormtrooper reaches the control panel, but a fist slams into it when the realization hits that there are only two buttons: Up and Down.

Norssa’s shot easily zips through the rubble of the crate pile, but misses its mark by mere centimeters, singing Siet’s jacket. He then deftly steps over the broken crates to come almost face to face with Siet, blaster rifle trained the entire time. “That’s my brother you shot, No-Eye. Out of a hundred siblings, he ain’t the best, but he’s family.”

Meanwhile, in the cockpit of the Sybil’s Silence, Tessek draws his blaster and holds it shaking in front of him, but… he doesn’t fire. “Who… are you?” he glances again at the weapons console before staring at Erska.

Ok, free-for-all! Everyone can go, and I think Nolest is tucked neatly back into his team’s initiative block. After BB zipped off, knowing his ship wasn’t going to respond, and Notha’s fall, the suggested actions weren’t logical anymore.

    [Nolest]
    • Move to I-15
    • Standard to Treat Injury
    [Arri]
    • Attack vs Shalo – (15) vs Reflex 16 – miss (flavored as deflection)
    • Move to K-19
    • Swift to Use Computer
    [Norssa]
    • Attack vs Siet – (7) vs Reflex 15 – miss
    • Move to P-17
    [Tessek]
    • Move to draw blaster
    • the momentary distraction of the console can provoke an AoO, if Erska wishes to take one.

  30. Hiden turns his ship slightly trying to get the Mon Calamari in P17 and the stormtrooper in the beam (and only them). He switches the com over to broadcast mode (hopefully getting sound in the docking bay). “Hey, sorry if this is a bad time, but can anyone direct me to port 4? With the lights out I can seem to get my bearings.”

OOC: trying to distract someone (probably the stormtrooper as Norssa’s just lost a brother). Deception +8, Pilot +9 (reroll if total below a 15).

  31. Seit doesn’t even bother turning. “Well, I’ve always believed that it’s important for families to stay together.” And fires a blast over his shoulder at the Mon Cal

    [tech]
Attack vs. Norssa +4 to hit, 3d10 energy damage (using a Force Point, if I need to)

  32. OOC: Since it hasn’t been fired yet, retroactively stating that her pistol has always been in the stun setting.

Erska fires a quick stun shot at the quarren when he turns to the console, getting his attention back on her. “It doesn’t matter who I am. Just that I’m with Siet and all I want is to help him get his ship back.” She visibly switches her pistol from stun to normal damage and levels the blaster on the quarren. “You don’t look like you want to fight, and I would rather not shoot you if it can be helped, so what’s your story here?”

    Tech
AoO Stun attack: +6 to hit, 2d6 stun damage

    Regular turn:
Swift action to switch pistol setting
Free action to talk and see what’s going on before taking the rest of my turn

  33. [Hiden]
The Sparrow’s beam focuses slightly as the ship lilts a little before Hiden’s voice broadcasts into the hangar. Nolest blinks as he’s plunged back into darkness. “Wait, so that’s not one of yours, Marr? What an egg.”

    Deception – (28) – good enough for a feint-like effect
Pilot – (18) – good enough to do what you want

    [Siet]
Siet’s rifle bolt sizzles against the force field. “I’m not falling for that ‘I’m not looking’ poodu.” Norssa, now ominously backlit, sneers at Siet.

Attack – (9) vs Reflex – I figure you want to keep your FP on that roll. Note that you still have Move/Swift if you want them.

    [Erska]
Erska’s blue stun beam encompasses Tessek, visibly diminishing his physical resources. He grabs at the seat next to him with his free flipper to keep from falling. “I’m just the engineer. Tortola pays me well, but anytime my own kind finds out, they treat me like krill.” He shakily keeps his blaster trained, but he doesn’t look ready to pull the trigger.

And we get to see how stun works! (btw, check the errata – stun damage got un-nerfed)
    Attack – (25) vs Reflex – Hit!
    Tessek takes (17)/2 = 8 stun damage
The unmodified damage beats his Damage Threshold, so Tessek moves -2 steps down the Condition Track.
I will also note here that Erska also has a move action left.

  34. Not taking kindly to being shot at – you can put someone’s eye out with that thing! – Shalo moves in on Arri to hand out a smack down. Looking down at his robe that was nearly singed, Shalo just rolls his eyes and says “Oh, please…” as he advances.

OOC: Move action to J-16, Standard attack +3, 2d8+1 energy/slashing, ignores DR. Swift action to roll my eyes and sigh in boredom with the dude if required.

  35. [Shalo]
The brilliant light of the saber whirls around Shalo as he advances on Arri. The tiny stormtrooper dodges left, then right, despite the blinding light of the Sparrow. Shalo stands back in a rudimentary ataru stance, refocuses himself in the Force, then strikes!

Arri staggers back, with one hand on the other shoulder, but one pistol is still pointed at Shalo. “This suit was expensive. You’ll pay for that.” Despite the heavily disguised voice, Shalo has a niggling feeling he’s met this person before. Must have been in the Imperial military.

Attack vs Arri – (9) vs Reflex – add Force Point (per email)(15) vs Reflex – Hit!
    Arri takes (11) damage.

By the by, all damage rolls get a 1/2 heroic level bonus. And I assume Shalo’s using his lightsaber two-handed, doubling his strength bonus, for a total of 2d8+3.

  36. Zipping out from the darkness, the now slightly-less-but-still-kinda smoking BB flanks the tiny trooper just as a tiny flap opens on his left-side panel, as mesh tape shoots out towards his blasters and arms. As the tape shoots out, an automated message is played: “This droid is property of the Vensenor Academy ID #562483. Student, damaging this instructional unit will void its warranty, result in disciplinary action and will go ON YOUR PERMANENT RECORD.”

    OOC:
OK, so swift action to regain 5 hp, puts me at 6hp. Move action to zoom along to L20, then standard action to attack the tiny stormtrooper with my mesh tape dispenser. Reading this right (maybe?) if I hit with a melee attack, he gets bond up and takes a -2 to attacks and Dex checks. I am -1 on the condition track, so that means I am at a -2 (-1 from str 8, -1 from condition), but flanking with Shalo gives me a +2, ya? So this will be a straight up roll +0 vs AC. Makes me feel like a 3e wizard!

  37. “How about working for a Miraluka?” Erska offers. “Help us fight Tortola and the rest of them off, or at least let me take the controls. Siet reclaims the ship with your assistance, and you don’t have to work for Mon Cals anymore.”

    Tech:
I dunno if this requires the move action for a check or not, but I’ll definitely use a force point on assistance if needed.

  38. [BB]
The stormtrooper’s attention remains fixed on Shalo, but still manages fancy enough footwork to evade the droid’s mesh tape barrage! The sticky ball ends up on the deck next to the combatants.

Attack – (8) vs Reflex – miss, even with the wacky lighting and flanking. J-19 is now difficult terrain.

    [Erska]
The quarren spits on the floor. “You mean Siet Marr? Do you even know what this guy has done? Killing rodian younglings to get to their father. Marooning crewmembers to save on rations. Tortola may be a dirty mon cal, but the stories he’s told me of Marr are far worse.”

Persuasion – (5) – the dice hate you?

I guess today’s one of those “hijacked by the family” days, so enemy turns will be thought about and posted on later.

  39. The hangar part of this bit is filmed from the Sparrow – when it cuts back to Erska and Tessek, the music drops off dramatically.

The stormtrooper spits out an expletive in Bocce, then quick as a flash disappears into the darkness. As this happens, Nolest pulls his own practically forgotten sidearm and fires wildly in Shalo’s direction, pulling his attention away from the shadows.

Taking advantage of Nolest’s distraction, the stormtrooper shoots a well-aimed bolt right at Shalo’s vitals! Guided by the Force, he deflects the shot handily.

Norssa steadies his arm against the broken pile of crates and fires a quick burst of shots from his rifle, peppering Siet with a few light grazes. It’s at this point that we notice the crew from slot 1 running out of the hangar bay, evidently pretty freaked out.

Back in the cockpit of the Silence, Tessek steps back warily and then wheezes slightly. “What about you? Why are you flying with Marr? He wants this ship – so what. What are you looking for?” He pauses briefly before carefully glancing at the weapons console and quickly spitting out “Plan D override!”

    [Nolest]
    • Move to draw pistol
    • Aid another, Arri and Shalo – (23) (he shoulda just shot) – gives Arri +2 attack
    [Arri]
    • Move to withdraw to L-18, then continue to O-20
    • Attack vs Shalo – (17) vs Reflex 16 – hit!
    • Shalo uses Deflect: Use the Force – (18) – success!
    [Norssa]
    • Swift to switch mode to auto-fire
    • Attack vs M/N-17/18 – (14) vs Siet’s Reflex 15 – miss!
    • Area attack misses for half – for (15)/2 = 7 damage
    [Tessek]
    • Move to withdraw to L-2
    • Swift to give the ship a verbal command

And… the next round! Maps sometime in the morning.

  40. Hiden switches over to the comlink for his friends. “Anything else I can do, or should I just land?” He attempts to keep his lights on the stormtrooper while he waits for a response.

OOC: Pilot +9 (reroll if total roll is 15 or less).

  41. [Hiden]
Maneuvering the Sparrow like a leaf on the wind, Hiden manages to thread his headlight between the crates, throwing the stormtropper into sharp relief, but plunging the mon cal back into darkness.

    Pilot – (27)

    [Siet]
Sensing the stormtrooper glance at the Sparrow and throw up an arm to block the light was all the opening he needed. Arri’s leg buckles as the rifle bolt sears through it, leaving a large black scorch mark on the pristine white armor. The helmet slowly pulls back up and orients clearly on Siet.

    Attack vs Arri – (24) – Hit! (not a crit – that +1 is from Point-blank Shot)
Arri takes 15 damage, which exactly hits Fort, so also falls -1 step down the CT.

  42. Not keen on getting shot at, Shalo takes another swing at the Stormtrooper.

OOC: Standard attack +3, 2d8+3 energy/slashing, ignores DR

        • OOC: Rolled an 8, dude. Plus 3, plus 2 for charging. Currently a miss. The stormtrooper is down on the CT, and in the blinding light. What will the Jedi do? Will he draw on another FP to strike down his foe? Or let it slide?

          • OOC: Burn that force point, baby! I didn’t forgo hitting on chicks for nothing!

  43. [Shalo]
The soldier-turned-Jedi again draws upon the Force to guide him, executing a brilliant Jung ma technique, slashing across the midsection of the stormtrooper! The twin blasters clatter to the ground as the small but vicious trooper crumples against the cargo crate with a sickening groan.

    Attack vs Arri – (13) +Force Point (4) = 17 vs Reflex – Hit!
Arri takes (13) damage and drops!
And Shalo takes a -2 penalty to Reflex for charging.

  44. For clarity, I’ll just list what’s happened mechanically this round, and what is yet to come.

Hiden has taken a move action, and is welcome to continue. Siet has taken a standard action, and is welcome to continue. Shalo has ended his turn with a charge. This leaves BB and Erska to take their full turns.

Shalo is in N-19, and the Sparrow is illuminating R-22 through L-18. I’m waiting to update the map until I’m sure what Hiden is doing for the rest of the turn.

  45. BB zooms back towards the ship, into and out of the light flooding the area. “Erska, please open a ramp for me, we can regain the ships control a lot easier if I am aboard. Siet, any specific commands you used to guard against unwanted entry?” BB asked via his comm-link.

OOC: Move action to L14, should put me near a ramp if Erska can convince the Mon Cal to open a ramp.

    • OOC: Hehe, Jon rolepainted himself in a corner again. I guess his comlink’s off? “Siet, foolishly without his comlink, fires another blast at the illuminated Stormtrooper”

  46. “How do you know those aren’t just stories?” Erska keeps her gun leveled on the Quarren as he steps away. “And I don’t care much about Siet or this ship. Simply working through a series of favors is all.”

Erska’s golden eyes widen when Tessek gives the computer a command. “No!” she yells as she fires a shot at him before turning to the computer herself, BB’s suggestion in her ear. “Uh, ramp down? Down ramp?” She tries to figure out how to let BB on to the ship.

    Tech:
    +6 attack, 3d6 energy damage

  47. Tessek fires almost at the same time as Erska, but weakened by the stun he fires wide as he’s struck in the chest by Erska’s bolt. The defeated quarren slumps into the pilot’s chair, spinning it lazily with the momentum, head lolling forward.

The ship’s computer chimes back pleasantly, “Request not found. Please rephrase?” There is a definite zeltron influence there.

The quarren’s eyes flutter briefly as he croaks out, “Arri, why?”

    Attack vs Tessek – (24) – Hit!
Tessek takes (12) damage and drops!

Aw, and he was just starting to warm up too. I totally picture the “Go web!” scene in Spider-Man here with the commands.

So that’s everyone – folks with partial turns have until I get up in the morning before I go on with the stragglers.

    • OOC: SIlly Siet! When this is over, BB is going to buy you a new commlink and glue it to you so you don’t forget about it!

Hearing the computers response through Erska’s Commlink, BB speeds ahead, to keep away from the lightsabers and blasters nearby…use my remaining actions to move to I8. Where its dark, and presumably by the other ramp once we figure this out.

  48. Nolest bends down, rips a pouch from the downed mon cal on the floor next to him, then races to the controls on the Silence’s landing gear, firing his blaster at Siet as he pulls away. Slapping the console on the landing gear, he starts trying to figure out where into the darkness BB tracked off into.

Norssa continues to empty his rifle’s power pack in Siet’s direction – at this range, even wild shots connect as the mon cal mutters over and over “He was my brother… he was my brother…”

A moment later, the distraught mon cal realized what Nolest is doing and takes off after him.

Inside the cockpit, Erska hears “Starboard loading platform activated.”

My 3-yr-old found and devoured a full Pez dispenser this morning. Needless to say, my morning did not go as planned.

    [Nolest]
    • taking the pouch is flavor and provides no game advantage, or uses an action – he’s just a douche.
    • Attack vs Siet – (16) vs Reflex 20 – Miss! (yay cover and concealment!)
    • Move to J-10
    • Swift to start lowering the loading platform
    [Norssa]
    • Area Attack vs Siet – (7) vs Reflex 15 – Miss! (but still an area attack!)
    • Siet takes (15)/2 = 7 damage! (totally different individual dice, same total)
    • Move to N-12

    Next up? Everyone!

  49. Hidden announces over the loud speakers, “I guess this is a bad time, I’ll go find pod 4 myself.” He turns he ship northwards (which he believes is the wrong direction) trying to get the two Mon Calimari illuminated at least briefly as he slowly flies away, but stays close by.

    • The Sparrow’s bright lights remain trained on the straggling mon calimaris – it’s almost like Hiden was trained by a SWAT team flying hovertanks.

Pilot – (26) – stop taking the good rolls from attacks! Hiden hasn’t rerolled a Pilot check yet. ;P

The mon cals still gain no benefit from concealment; Siet and BB totally do. Shalo has his own light source.

  50. “Damnit…” Erska growls in frustration, looking over the panel. “Okay, try to sound a bit more…technical. Um…activate…central..ramp.”

    Tech:
Swift to try one more command, rest of actions waiting for this success.

  51. [Erska]
Much to Erska’s surprise, this time the computer seems to listen. “Central ramp activated.” Behind her down the ladder, Erska hears the pistons and sliding durasteel as the ramp begins to lower.

Nolest’s voice booms through Tessek’s comlink. “What in the depths do you think you’re doing, ink-sack? Shut that ramp!”

  52. “Yes! Take that computer.” Taking a brief moment to celebrate, Erska gets herself together and moves to the ramp as it lowers. She pops her head down enough to see Nolest. “Sorry, your engineer can’t come to the com link right now.” She fires off a shot at him before talking into the darkness. “BB, you still want in?”

    Tech:
Down to the ramp. If it’s open enough, Erska takes a shot at Nolest
    +5 attack, 3d6+1 energy damage

  53. OOC: OK, so where the hell in the order are we? You guys aren’t waiting for me, right? I’ve been in Chicago for 4 days…

  54. Nolest finds the droid, but its too late, BB rolls up the central ramp and out of sight, looking for the nearest scom link. “My My, a wonderful looking ship. Lets put her back in the hands of her owner…” the group hears over the comm link (except Siet).

    Tech:
Not sure exactly where the central ramp is, but I’m headed there. Spd 6, so 12sq of movement to get me there hopefully will count. Once on board, scom link out, and BB is about to “holla” at The Silence, brinary style.

  55. [BB]
It’s funny you should spell that “brinary” – BB’s sensors detect high levels of saline vapor in the Silence’s air system. The wireless system has copious security measures, but just in BB’s viewport at the top of the ramp is the massive reactor dome. Right at astromech-level is a handy-dandy scomp-port. We cut just as BB links up!

    Perception – (22)
That was the full move, and a swift to link up. Use Computer checks… next round. Remember, BB is still taking a -1 to all checks.

    • [Erska]
Enabling BB’s daring dash, Erska’s blaster fire totally distracts the mon cals boarding the cargo lift.

Attack vs Nolest – (10) vs Reflex – Miss!

Totally spaced on that attack up there! Same difference, but more interesting scene this way.

  56. With his opponent on the floor, Shalo realizes he’d better go see what trouble his protectee might have gotten herself into.

OOC: double move to get to the ramp and into the ship – up to maybe S-7?

  57. [Shalo]
The Jedi spins towards the ship, his current foe defeated. He runs towards the ramp, sliding under the still lowering cargo lift between Nolest and Norssa, and rolling up into a defensive stance at the base of the ramp!

The squares (M/P-14/17) are difficult terrain. I managed to find a path that gets you as far as possible, with Shalo ending in P-7. Siet’s still got a turn, and I’ll try to get an updated map up today. A fair amount has happened since I did that last.

  58. [Shalo]
The Jedi’s attention snaps back and forth between the two remaining foes. There’s a landing strut directly between him and the orange mon cal, but Nolest, the ringleader, is very clear from Shalo’s position.

Well, already having used two move actions, Shalo could still use his Destiny Point to make an out-of-turn action. But read on! He may not want to.

    [Siet]
Siet remains firmly hidden behind the shattered shipping container. The camera shifts to a “blindsight” style filter (monochrome, with pulsing waves through everything) as Siet fires his rifle from the hip. The blast loops through the hangar, impossibly ignoring everyone’s preconceptions about blaster shots, and slams Norssa on his back!

Nolest gapes at his last crewmember for a moment before glancing, in turn, towards the cockpit, the worker droids, and the darkness of Slot 6. “No need for violence, eh Marr? It’s not worth it any more. Take the blasted ship.” He drops his blaster on the now-lowered cargo platform and raises his flippers in defeat.

Attack vs Norssa – (19) vs Reflex – Hit!
Norssa takes (11) damage and drops!

Jon didn’t declare any movement or other actions to remove cover from the equation, but in the name of cool I went ahead and applied Force Directed Shot to this.

Ok folks, Nolest has taken his turn, and appears to be surrendering. I’m working up the next production still, but some elements will depend on your actions and reactions. Again, every PC can act.

  59. Hiden continues to fly away in the wrong direction, though keeps the com-link on so he can hear what’s needed.
