Skill Check
the cornerstone of this game system. To determine Success, roll a d20, add the relevant Attribute Bonus, the relevant Skill Bonus, along with any situational bonuses, and compare the total to a target number set by the GM for the task. To determine Advantage, roll your Advantage Dice (which vary depending on several factors) and compare against the GM's Threat Dice. Subtract the smaller total from the larger total, then determine effects from the result.
d20
the Check die. Checks only use d20s and d20s are only used for Checks.
Advantage
a beneficial effect aside from simple success and failure. Every player rolls Advantage for every Skill Check and any time they are attacked by an enemy or other active obstacle.
Threat
a detrimental effect aside from simple success and failure. The GM rolls Threat most of the time a player rolls a Skill Check.
Character Points
the character creation and advancement resource you spend to define your physical and mental Attributes.
Talent Points
the character creation and advancement resource you spend to gain new skills and abilities.
Feat Points
the character creation and advancement resource you spend to increase your facility with skills and abilities you already have.
Descriptor
a word or phrase you use to customize a generic game element and make it your own. Examples might include Arcane, Fire, and Mass Destruction on a wizard's fireball. While these don't carry direct mechanical benefits and drawbacks, and aren't paid for with points, the roleplay benefits and drawbacks might be quite extreme.
Attributes
six numerical values associated with your character, one of which you pick to drive every Skill Check you make. These are:
Strength
Constitution
Dexterity
Intelligence
Wisdom
Charisma
Personal tools
