6:1:9:Hera:VIII (continued)

Upon checking with his contacts, Vadin determines a tavern safe from the Order of the Crescent Moon: the Green Wolf. The party decides the rooming arrangements like so: Tauron, Ettyneen and Greshona in one room, Vadin and Gemma in another, and Kovar and his armor in the third. During the night, the party is secretly poisoned, causing some of them to lose ability points.

6:1:9:Hera:IX

In the morning, Ettyneen again tries to scry the "living" Marilith. Taking off her pendant and storing it in a coffee mug, she casts away: Marilith is tied spread-eagled to the wall of a cell, with a dusty complexion and wearing a porcelain mask. She appears to be breathing. Out the cell window, we can see a river with a thick forest on the other side. Expending extra effort to move her scrying eye, Ettyneen travels outside. The building is quite opulent and three stories. The river has a waterfall, and beyond that is the Crescent Lake. Using a map, the location of the house is narrowed down.

Upon leaving the tavern, the party is ambushed by ninjas. There is a big ol' fight, Gemma almost bites it, but they persevere with help from the innkeeper.

Right as the last ninja is taken care of, the party is sent to a sightless, soundless, touchless void. A clear voice like a bell states, in Verrik:
"We underestimated you, as you have underestimated us.
"Our resources are vast, and it is now clear that you require more attention.
"These things you are looking for? Stop. Marilith is dead. The Obsidian Pendant is lost to you.
"Next time you want to tangle with my Order, remember these things:
"You're not your quest. You're not how much gold you have in your pouch. You're not the magic you cast.
"You're not the titles the aristocracy gives you. You're not your fucking armor.
"You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
"We're better. I am the Obsidian Pendant. Try and stop me."
