It's 3 AM. We've broken into our target's hotel room. They're coming through the hallway from the elevator now. Distortion, Soundwave and Ironside step into the darkened room, but Distortion and Ironside notice something wrong... Before they can react, O'Malley fires an unsuccessful lightning-blast at the big guy, letting all of them know he's there! He dodges Andrea's pistol-whip, rushes O'Malley, and strikes through the glass but misses. Sammy steps back into visibility and steals Distortion's air from him. Distortion, gasping for breath, tries in vain to mess up Sammy's concentration with his own power.

O'Malley's heavenly powers suddenly blind Ironside as he slips past to confront the wheezing Distortion. Andrea jumps over to Soundwave, shoves the gun to the back of her head, and establishes that her bladder works. Ironside blindly swings at O'Malley, but O'Malley's used to dodging drunken punches. Distortion swings right through Sammy's face! Too bad Sammy's basically made of air right now!

Andrea drags Soundwave into a bedroom to tie her up, as Ironside rushes O'Malley and manages to strike him rather hard! O'Malley, again, is used to bar fights and shrugs it off. Raf manages to get into Ironside's head (it's a little empty) and finds that he's gonna be difficult to take out with all his immunities. Distortion stumbles back, gasps a bit, and puts up another distortion field around Sammy, O'Malley and Ironside, but all it does is wiggle the colors a bit. O'Malley fails to blind Ironside and scampers off to behind Distortion.

Ironside finally lands a solid blow on O'Malley, whose turn it is to see bright lights. Raf attempts to jump inside Distortion's head, but only finds that he's feeling confused. See, we were all supposed to be explodimadated, right?

Ironside clocks O'Malley again, Distortion finally succumbs to the suffocation, and Raf's brain can't quite break into Distortion's. O'Malley manages to blind Ironside again and backs away, allowing Andrea to step in with her patented pistol-whip. Since Distortion's out of the game, Sammy goes Dense (which nobody's seen yet!) and slams Ironside through the wall into the bathroom!!

Ironside climbs out of the shattered drywall and thoroughly misses Sammy. Andrea flips her pistol over, cocks it next to Ironside's head, and decidedly convinces him to stop fighting.

After a bit, all three are tied up in different rooms, and Distortion regains consciousness with Raf making sure he can't teleport. O'Malley starts the round of questions:

• Who hired you? Reflection, but that's all he knows, other than that she's his drug contact
• Ooh, she keeps base in Kansas City, MO (which is where the phone number we have from earlier is)
• She helped Distortion get his powers

Suddenly, Raf notices (through the security cameras) that a bunch of MiB are coming up the elevator. We quickly route everyone into one of the back rooms and Raf stops the elevator between floors. Sammy grabs Distortion and the group heads towards the stairs, but stops when they hear more footsteps up the stairs. Sammy drops Distortion and quickly checks the rooms, finds an empty one, and lets everyone in, including all three of the rogues. Our new door shuts just as we hear a loud banging on the old room!

"Rutger Salzman, this is Special Agent Nathan Orange, please open up!" and then they go in. Sammy takes a quick peek (invisibly) and establishes Agent Orange's visage in case they need it. Orange seems very forensically interested in what happened to the room. After Sammy reports back, Raf checks Orange's head to see what he knows about the PotUS assassination. Orange is one of the higher level investigators on the murder, but the details are less forthcoming. He's after Rutger because of the warehouse explosion, but only suspicions link it to the assassination. Also, apparently, there were only four sets of fingerprints in the room where the Pres was found dead.

For reference, it's currently about 4:30 AM.

Sammy recons the area around the hotel and finds no agents anywhere but near the room, then lands below the balcony and goes dense to catch everyone, not including Ironside or Soundwave. The party safely makes it back to their car, where Raf's influence on Distortion's teleport power diminishes enough to allow him to zip away.

After sleeping until about noon at our own hotel, we ditch the T-bird, pick up a gas-efficient sedan, and start our trip to Kansas City...
