For the most part, see p19 of Arcana Evolved to get the best idea of what a faen is. In this world, there is also an additional type of faen, the stonekin faen. Also, despite the main text, there is a genetic predisposition towards a particular type of faen based on parentage.

All four types of faen originated on the Melma subcontinent, and then spread east to Duerga. For the most part, quickling faen live in western Melma, loresong live in eastern Melma, and stonekin live in both southern Melma as well as Duerga. The Duergan faen have a brisk trade with the alabast, thanks to the Nerrick Canal, which connects the Aldi Sea and the Norul Ocean.

Melmond, the capitol of Melma, is home to the creatively named University at Melmond, possibly the most comprehensive seat of knowledge in the southern lands.
